TLC is certified by the ADL SCORM 1.2 (U.S.) and AICC compliant with the AICC Corp. (U.S.A.).
The need for educational content and tools interoperabile with each other emerges since the early 80’s when the U.S. aviation industry begins to spread the personal computer in the training activities. In this context the AICC (Aviation Industry CBT Committe) prepares the first specifications for the standardization of hardware platforms for the developlment of the CBT and has produced a long series of guidelines for the interoperability between courseware and platform, still widespread on the market only in the specific e-learning content for WBT (Web Based Training).
AICC specifications have been gradually updated and replaced by the new industry specifications drawn up by the IMS international consortium (Instructional Machine Systems Global Learning Consortium). Also the civil aviation and U.S. military has effectively transferred its investment from the AICC system sto this new model and this was done through the ADL institution guidelines (Advanced Distributed Learning) of the Department of Defense and Ministry of Labor, who selected the IMS specifications of thei interest by creating the SCORM (Shareable Content Reference Model).
In particular, the SCORM specifications refer to the e-learning contents and concern the indexing data of learning atoms (LOM, Learning Objects Metadata), their content packaging and the simple sequencing. In addition, SCORM inherits from AICC an active tracking model, which is still absent in the IMS specifications. Therefore the SCORM specifications contain the standards for reuse, cataloging and tracking of learning objects.
